SIGMA BETA HISTORY
The Sigma Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on the campus of East Tennessee State University on August 7, 1990 when the "Full House" and "Pentagon" Lines combined to create the "Twelve Disciples." Since then, the chapter has operated on the motto "Quality over quantity," accepting only the best and brightest men that East Tennessee State University has to offer. Sigma Beta serves as a beacon to Johnson City and the surrounding communities, uplifting its community through "Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all Mankind." The Sigma Beta Chapter has been honored as Fraternity of the Year multiple times since its charter as well as being recognized as having the Most Outstanding New Members, highest GPA within the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and President of the Year. The Chapter has been honored at a District Level as well through the Fraternity itself.
